So, why is it that we find it so tough to ”Trust the Process?” (TTP)
Think of the first karate kid movie…
In the movie, Daniel LaRusso (played by Ralph Macchio) is getting bullied and wants to learn how to defend himself
He first tries to go to a karate school, but it happens that his bullies attend that school, so he gets his ass kicked again and leaves.
He runs into Mr. Miyagi (played by Pat Morita) after Mr. Miyagi saves his ass from the bullies again…
And Mr. Miyagi agrees to teach him karate.
But since Mr. Miyagi”s methods are not what Daniel expected (he has your boy doing hella chores for him, lol)
He doesn’t believe he’s learning karate.
Daniel soon becomes frustrated that he is not doing all types of cool kicks and shit and
Hell, hes probably more frustrated that hes doing housework as an after school activity!
But that’s when Mr. Miyagi shows him that he’s been learning the basics all along…
As a coach and as a student, I can empathize with both Daniel and Mr Miyagi.
Meaning, I’ve been the student not trusting the process and the teacher watching people not trust the processes I laid out for them.
The question is, why is it so hard to trust the process?
I mean, logically we know that if we stick to a proven plan, we will get the results we want
But here we are, fighting the system that is helping us.
Look, I dont have an answer as to why we dont have faith, but I have some guesses
One guess is the fact that we THINK we know what the plan will look like, how long it will take, and how it should go.
But, if we KNEW how it would all look, then, we wouldn’t be in the mess we are in the first place!
Another guess is that we stop believing in ourselves, so its less about trusting the process, and more about not trusting ourselves.
So, without the self-belief, we dont feel we can finish the process.
Next is maybe we dont know if chose the proper path!
We can see the process, but aren’t sure if it’s the process we need to be following
My last guess is impatience.
I think we all can get impatient…we want results now!
But, if it was that easy to get results now, we all would have results.
The bottom line is, we lose faith, and in my opinion, its because the inner identity of how we see ourselves never changed.
If you can’t shake the image of a person who always messes up
or is “unlucky”
or isnt “tough enough”
or whatever it is.
then no matter what you are learning, or who is teaching/helping you, that negative self image will make sure you fail…
So, the first thing you gotta do, is make sure you start to change your self-image to the person you want to be
There are a lot of exercises I like to help with this work, so Im glad to share some with you.
No matter what tho, without this type of inner work, succeeding as a land investor is a lot more difficult.
Its like trying to fight the bullies without ever finding Mr Miyagi!
BTW, this isnt work that you do once and you “got it”
its like working out in the gym, if you stop doing the work, you lose the results.
I will talk about this concept a lot in the land investing masterclass happening soon.
Im ready to blow some minds when I go into depth about this
