Is It Time For You to Do an Audit?

I’m not talking about a tax audit

(fun fact, there will be a time when you want to be audited for taxes, because you make so much money, you want to make sure everything is accounted for)

What I’m talking about is an Audit or an Assessment of your current skills!

A quick story…

Not long ago, I was talking to someone who was interested in coaching so I could help them quit their 9-5 job with confidence.

But this person didn’t just want a game plan and the tools to implement that plan

They also didn’t just want me accessible to them as they were implementing things…

They wanted me to be in their corner, coaching them everyday, holding them accountable, and all but guaranteeing their success.

(side note, I can’t guarantee anything, because I’m not doing the work, you are.

I can only guide, instruct, motivate and hold you accountable to thine things you say you want…

…so, if you do what I teach, you will probably succeed, if you do things your way, who knows what the results will be)

In my mind, I was taken aback…I haven’t had someone ask so much of me!

Then I went into that mental space we all get into when we are asked to become something greater than we were expecting

4 words that can make or break you in that moment…

“Can I do it?”

A variant is

“Am I good enough to do this, or am I a fraud?”

Have you ever asked this to yourself before?

If not, either you are doing great with the mental reprogramming I recommend in my book

or you haven’t put yourself out there enough to get people to buy into you.

Either way, your mind set needs to be in a place where you can say “YES”

Even if that “Yes” isn’t the most confident yes, as long as you realize you can do it!

But, how do you get to that point?

Do assessment about your current success and skills!

First, write down all of the things you have accomplished in your life.

Think about every big or small win you can remember.

From having a winning record on your 4th grade basketball team

to graduating high school

surviving a tough or traumatic event or childhood

to being a parent, getting a great job, buying a car/house/boat

to starting your business, etc.

No win is too small to write down.

You will be amazed at what you remember that you forgot about or didn’t think was a noteworthy accomplishment (it is!).

Next, thinking of those wins, think about the skills you learned on your way to acquire

Some skills will be big skills that are easy to talk about

like the skills on how to lead a team, skills on how to create software, skills on how to study and master a subject quickly, etc.

Others will be smaller wins

like, the ability to persevere when times seem tough

or learning that you are more caring or tough or smarter than you gave yourself credit for.

When you have these listed out, start to read these to yourself everyday

You will realize that you CAN do whatever you need to do to make your dreams come true!

This will also show you how you can use your skills in new ways to make a business for yourself.

You will also see some areas of “weakness” that you will see that having someone else handle those areas in your business would be best

Just build relationships with those folks who are good at the things you hate because they will take care of you in those areas!

The point is, you will see what you are good at…and many of those skills you prob forgot about until this exercise.

These things are skills that people will want to learn from you!

when you are done with this exercise and you are riding the high of your greatness, you may be ready start to profit from the skills you have.

This was my long-winded way to tell you that you can succeed

And you already have the skills to do so, but I felt you needed a reminder and a way to jog your memory 😉
