News flash,
trying to be a jack of all trades won’t get you paid
I see a lot of people trying to do so much in the real estate space
I hear it all the time, people say they want to learn land so they can get into other forms of real estate
while land investing (esp. the way I teach it) will give you a great fundamental education in real estate
looking to “combine” real estate disciplines is a recipe for disaster.
it’s like when I tried to combine land investing with affiliate marketing
I’m not talking about adding an affiliate marketing element to an already thriving land investing business
I’m talking about trying to learn 2 different skills sets at the same time.
Both in my case with affiliate marketing and land investing…
or in the common newbie mistake of trying to learn 2 different disciplines of real estate at once, you get the same outcomes
1) you dont put in enough time in either discipline to become good at it since your time is split
Meaning, you may have “studied” for 10 hours, but for each skill, but you only got 5 hours’ worth of “skill”
that’s 10 hours of effort, energy, and time, for half the result!
2) you dont start to really start to “get it” since your mind is not focused on 1 thing, but ping pongs back and forth between 2 things!
One thing people dont realize is how often our brains will chew on info that may be tough for us to understand when it’s still a new concept
that subconscious mind will keep breaking things down and finding patterns to see how it will be similar to information you already know to help understanding
splitting between 2 things doesn’t help
3) people tend to not take real action when they are doing 2 things at once…
it’s always half measures and dabbling efforts, no full on “I’m gonna make this work, come hell or high water”
why?
because theres always a “back up plan” of the other discipline to give you permission to not give it your all
4) there will be a level of confusion since the 2 things you are learning at once may conflict or diverge, and keeping the 2 lessons apart can be tough
There are more reasons I have personally felt that I can list, but you already get the point.
So, listen, I highly recommend you specialize in land investing (or whatever it is you wanna do) and focus on that.
Get some results (Aka buy and sell a land parcel) and then see what additional skills you will need to make your business even better.
Now, there are times when trying to focus on 1 thing is though
A lot of people need accountability and a customized game plan in order to make this whole thing work
Good thing you know me, since I’m just the guy to help you with those things…
