Hey, can I tell you something seemingly embarrassing?

You bet’ not judge me either!

As I was overlooking the fine city of San Francisco, I had a memory of how I got to this point.

Ya see home slice, a few years back, I thought I had an issue with sales when selling my lots.

I noticed how long lots sat on the market and how I couldn’t get as much as I wanted for them.

(theres some great stuff I’ve learned since then about sales, but reminded me to go to detail about that later)

Anyway, to help me with my sales and marketing problem, I tried to find a bunch of sales and marketing materials.

Well, because of this search, I got “pixeled” on YouTube and I saw an ad about affiliate marketing.

It was the standard “Yo, look at my phat house and shiny Lambo…I did this with affiliate marketing” ad.

After the slick YouTube ad, I went thru the sales funnel and found myself on a webinar (one that was pre-recorded)…

then I found myself buying something for $100.

It wasn’t long that I was sold on coaching to go along with a course for a total of $15,000 😲

What can I say, I fell for the fast riches promises and seeing objects so shiny, they would outshine the sun!

Here’s the embarrassing part…(don’t forget you better not judge me!)

I did not do any research on this stuff, so I didn’t realize I over paid for that “course and coaching” by $14,500. 😖

The info was decent but not worth the asking price.

The level of coaching I got was laughable too.

It was just a Facebook group with other newbies + a weekly livestream.

(yup, the same shit I give yall for free, I paid 15 racks for. 🤡)

side note: I had an actual coach before and since that time, and not only did I get individual attention, but they were good at what they did.

That means I learned a lot and made good money from that investment.

This course’s coaching was obviously NOT what I was expecting.

So, guess how much I made using the “skills” I learned from that $15,000 investment?

$150. 😐

That’s a 1% ROI…

And it took 8 months to make that $150.

I told you not to judge me!

Of course when people asked me about my “investment” I put on a brave face…but I was truly embarrassed.

Real talk, I felt like a complete failure and idiot.

It wasn’t long before I was avoiding responsibility, meaning I stopped watching the videos and participating in the fb group.

I went to the livestream calls, but I wasn’t taking action on what I was learning because Ive already given up.

I made excuses that I was too busy or theres too much to do.

It wasn’t long before I took the path of least resistance…the shiny object syndrome came back hard!

In short, I didn’t take ownership of my decisions, I just wanted to blame the course and point fingers at the course creators.

But you know what hurt the most?

I met people who actually DID make their investment back, and did so within a few months.

So while the course content wasn’t ideal, it wasn’t complete BS either.

So, why am I putting myself on blast?

Because I learned from my mistakes, and its how Ive done well investing in land.

I also think these lesson may benefit you as well.

So first, I learned to actually verify what I’m learning…and not to take peoples word for things.

That means implementing things and understanding I may have to try some things a few times before I see results.

Next, I earned that no matter what, if the info worked for 2 other people, it CAN work for me.

Im not different than anyone else when it comes to my potential to learning a high income skill.

It may take me longer to learn, or I may need to put in more effort, but if I want to learn it, I can.

Finally, if I stay patient and focus on ONE THING, I will eventually get the ROI I was looking for.

When I would get distracted or give up to early, it was easy to fail.

It wasn’t until I forced myself to focus on one thing that I saw success.

So, thinking back on my $15,000 journey, I may not have become a bad ass affiliate marketer, but some doors were opened to me like:

Personal development.

Great friends I met in the space.

The idea to think bigger

And more…

Okay, this is long enough…

I will go into depth these points soon, but you get my point.

Anyway, that’s it for now, let’s make this week a great week!
