LOL, so, I just got back from a cruise for a friends bachelor party…
I wont get into the specifics, or if it was a good idea to have a 15 man party on a 3 day cruise…
…but never the less, I saw some consistency with human behavior that you have to be aware of.
On the first night, most guys were excited to be on the boat.
You know what the group was about… meeting women and try to have a ”good time” if you know what I mean. 😉
We got dressed up, went to the tiny night club on the boat, and then…nothing!
Some were so focused on chasing women while others were just in “wait and see” mode
I, on the other hand, focused on just acting a fool and having a good time. (mission accomplished)
At the end of the night, many people in our party was bitching complaining about how there was no women on the boat.
Another common complaint was that this wasn’t a good place to have a bachelor party.
I personally didn’t really care, and found their frustration amusing.
The next day, we learned that the reason why the night club was dead was because most people had to travel from far and wide to get to the ship.
By the time they got on the boat, and went thru the whole boarding process, people were tired, so went to be early!
We were able to meet a lot more people that day!
The 2nd night of the night club was a totally different animal!
The place was packed!
Everyone had a good time, and the bitching and complaining some how stopped. (imagine that)
Why am I telling you this?
Because I see this as an entrepreneur all the time!
When you introduce someone to a new opportunity, they are excited and picture what they will do with a new influx of cash.
However, when it doesn’t pay off right away, they now say that the opportunity “sucks” or “doesn’t work”
They focus on the money instead of the skill!
News flash! Nobody is gonna pay you shit if you aint providing them any value!
The thing is, on the cruise, some got what they wanted, while others didn’t…
Same with making money… some are making a great living doing the same opportunity that the impatient ones were saying wasn’t working.
People say they don’t want to get rich quick…
…But when the opportunity does not make them rich in a week or 2…
…and they need to actually learn and master a new skill…
…show some patience…
…and not give up
…they fucking complain!
It goes to show that this attitude runs deep in all of us.
We all got issues like this, and when it comes to it if you don’t address it, you will never succeed at this!
A good book that talks about this is one I mentioned before, “The Compound Effect” by Darren hardy.
It talks about how things take a while to develop and you need to apply constant action everyday to see results in the future.
However, when those result show themselves, they show in a BIG way!
Don’t be like some of the younger guys that were with me on the cruise!
Have patience and don’t get so wrapped up in the “money”
Focus on mastering a skill.
MONEY FOLLOWS MASTERY!
