Today, I’m going to tell you a story that will give you a leg up when your marketing available parcels.
The moral of the story will help you in your business in general too
A few years ago, when I still worked as a software engineer, I remember talking a co-worker about some work stuff and some random small talk.
This friend and co-worker I was talking to is a designer on the game project we were working on.
Well, during our chat, I was telling him about the digital marketing I was just starting to learn.
And while this coworker was not a marketer, he was able to easily explain to me how to craft a better experience for my audience.
He explained how I can really reach my audience in a more authentic way.
His advice was that once I could picture that ideal client or audience member, I can more easily explain why my product or service will greatly benefit him or her.
Why?
Because, that person is probably similar to you!
It’s like you are finding other people who are just like you…
so the things you think are great, these people will also think those things are great.
Side note: dont you want to make sure people like you get the things they need?
Once you have that person in mind, you can figure out the things they want to hear…
but instead of just saying it plainly, “show them!”
(this is the show, dont tell principle in marketing)
For example, if you are advertising a parcel you are selling, instead of telling them the cool things like
“Its a 2 acre parcel near town that is zoned residential…”
Show (or describe) the prospect using the property!
Let them hear (or describe the sounds) the local wildlife makes at this peaceful location.
Show a smile on their face as they experience the beauty of the area.
Show how they would feel with the local climate if they made this place their primary or vacation residence
The message you want to get across will get delivered on a level that you and your prospects will deeply understand.
So, when you are marketing your product or service, now you have no excuse to show and not tell!
Now, here’s the moral of the story…
Without my co-worker, I wouldn’t have understood the “show, dont tell” philosophy the way I do now.
This only happened because I leveraged resources I had.
Not all wisdom will come from the wise man on the mountain…
sometimes it comes from the people you see and interact with every day.
We all have hidden gem resources we aren’t using; I’m telling you to go out and start to find them.
They aren’t as hard to find as you may think.
You also have me as a resource, but you aren’t using me to help you!
What question can I answer for you right now…something big or small.
Just let me know by replying to this post!
