A student asked Elon Musk the following question;
“What is the number one tip you have for all the young entrepreneurs waiting to startup?”
In short, Musk’s answer was a simple “don’t do it!”
This response may seem discouraging but it is rather clever.
Here’s the thing…
Being an entrepreneur has been overly glorified in movies and TV shows.
Just so you know, as a land investor, you ARE an entrepreneur.
You are also running a company…your land investing business.
And guess what?
Running a company is difficult and most people aren’t ready for the challenge.
They idealize the thought of success but when it comes to action, they haven’t done shit!
Entrepreneurship involves a lot of failures, risk-taking, effort and a willingness to commit to years of work before seeing any success.
Now, with land investing, the risks and learning curve is much lower than other forms of business, but the same rules apply (on a smaller scale)
When we jump into something like entrepreneurship, it may be tough, scary, or down right frustrating early on
However, the successful entrepreneur embraces the daily struggle and dives in with determination because they have a vision and won’t let anything get in the way of that vision.
In Musk’s words, if you are discouraged by someone telling you not to do it, then you were never meant to do it in the first place.
(this can also mean that you got discouraged because of the amount of time, money or energy it will take to do this successfully scared you away)
A strong entrepreneur will have the ability to not be put down by anyone’s discouragement.
No amount of sacrifice, confusion, or setbacks will stop the successful entrepreneurs.
The habits of highly successful people are clear.
They have grit, patience, resilience and never let a failure set them back, but rather, it moves them forward.
They are aware that only person stopping them from reaching their true potential is themselves.
so, be honest with yourself, who is stopping you right now?
