Why are you taking notes, just so you can ignore them later??
Maybe you are like me, and whenever you are at a seminar (in person or on the web) you take a ton of notes (if you don’t take notes, you should!)
And maybe you are also like me in where you ignore the notes you wrote for yourself…
…as in you, never go back to read them and actually learn something?
I use Microsoft’s “One note” to take notes all the time.
I use one note because I have it on my phone and PC, its easy, and pretty flexible in its use.
I also like an old fashioned pen and paper when Im at live events.
The problem is that eventually, the notes get messy, so Im supposed to go back to reread them and reorganize my thoughts.
When I get off my lazy ass and do it, I realize that
1) I understand the topic much better
2) Im more likely to remember the information
3) In the cases of a weekly webinar, I can see the important themes that are often repeated.
All 3 of these things are key, because they solidify the material in my head, and I’m more likely to apply it!
I understand it better because its now the 2nd time im getting the information
(first time was when I took the notes, the 2nd time is re-reading them)
I also notice that the questions I have in my mind have already been answered in my notes in the form of the “often repeated themes”
So, take it from me, use the notes, since they are there for you!
A gift from your past self to your current self!
